Centralized Resources, and Hardware Information

The cluster is interconnected on a private network, separate from the ``real'' Internet. The only way to access the cluster is by logging into the front-end node amdahl. The cluster is networked with high speed gigabit ethernet, both internally, and as its uplink to the outside world.

Many gigabytes of disk storage are available within the cluster: over a Terabyte of RAID-53 storage is provided by a trio of SnapAppliance Network Attached Storage devices, as well as by access to the main department fileservers. The automounter, and familiar drectories like /home and /project allow transparent access to all of the disk resources in the department.

You will find the same /home and /project directories on the cluster as you will on any other PCN UNIX host.
